Chung Chung Bhutia

Chung Chung Bhutia is a Thangka artist from Sikkim who completed her four-year training at the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom (D.H.H.) in 2025.

She has showcased her work at national exhibitions, including the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Thangka Workshop (2021) and exhibitions with Oviya Academy, where she secured 5th position at the Anisuchait Jati Sanskrit Sangarchan Mahotsav in 2024. She represented Sikkim at the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland (2024) and at Sikkim Design Week in Gangtok (2025), where she both demonstrated Thangka painting and conducted workshops for D.H.H., while also exhibiting her contemporary artwork with Oviya Academy.

Since April 2025, she has been working as a paid artisan in the production unit of D.H.H. Rooted in traditional Thangka painting, she also explores mural projects, contemporary, and modern art, balancing tradition with innovation in her practice.
