Sikkim Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation
The Sikkim Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (SHHDC), under the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, is dedicated to preserving the rich craft traditions of Sikkim while creating new opportunities for artisans and communities. From its beginnings in 2003, the institute has grown into a vibrant centre where heritage, skill, and livelihood come together.
At SHHDC, traditional craft training programmes keep centuries-old skills alive, while retail outlets, exhibitions, and fairs connect artisans to wider markets across India. Through initiatives like the Sales Emporium in Gangtok and outlets in major cities, we provide a direct platform for makers—ranging from Self-Help Groups to independent artisans—to showcase their work and earn sustainably.
Our commitment goes beyond commerce. By blending heritage with innovation, SHHDC nurtures cultural continuity, empowers communities, and ensures that every creation tells the story of Sikkim’s identity, belief, and tradition.
